Diego joined the Stamper-Kurn group in Fall 2020 to work on E8, an endeavor to trap and cool titanium atoms. As a chemist making the jump to AMO physics, he is very excited about the opportunity to participate in building a new experiment while also doing something as cool as creating a new type of ultracold gas.
He received a degree in chemistry from Fort Lewis College in 2019. During this time, he worked as an astrochemist under Dr. Callie Cole, utilizing computational chemistry to study the dissociation of biological molecules into smaller, astrochemically relevant species.
When not in lab, Diego can be found climbing rocks and jumping in mosh pits.
